Valentine's Makeup

After the excitement of Christmas and New Year has faded, Valentines is a nice little pick me up! Although I don't really go overboard, I have always done a little something for Valentines Day, whether attached or single! If you're in a relationship, it's can be nice to get romantic, and do something together that you might not ordinarily. If you're not attached, I have always found that it's a brilliant excuse to get together with your mates and have a girly night in, or glam up and hit the town, and just enjoy being a single pringle.

Either way, I thought I would share some ideas for Valentine's makeup looks that you might want to try, so I rounded up some of the "perfect-for-valentines" products in my makeup drawer.

(This is a photo heavy post, sorry!)

For the Face:

A recent acquisition, Dior Airflash foundation (£33) is extremely light, but with excellent coverage. Leaving a naturally perfected finish, this is perfect for most looks, from subtle to dramatic. Revlon's Colorstay foundation (£12.49) is a staple in my makeup bag, providing long lasting, full coverage which doesn't look cakey or obvious. Maybelline's Fit Me Concealer (£5.99) is another of my "must-have" products - creamy in texture, this has excellent coverage and doesn't crease under the eyes. Peach Party blush by Soap & Glory (£11) is wonderful for a subtle peachy glow - great for softer or daytime looks. Mac's Powder Blush in Pink Swoon (£18 - shade discontinued *sobs*) is seriously pigmented, and a very pretty and flattering cool toned pink. My bronzer of choice is Bourjois Delice de Poudre (£7.99) - it smells like chocolate, come on! And last but not least, a new discovery for me - Seventeen's Skin Wow Highlighter (£5.99 - review coming soon!). A cream highlighter which is shimmery and not glittery, you can mix this with foundation for an all over glow, or place it just where you want highlights, like your cheekbones and cupid's bow.

For the Eyes:

No matter what look you're going for, these products have got your back! Urban Decay's Naked 3 palette (£38 - I posted about here) just screams romance - with rose gold blush tones which are surprisingly flattering, and divine shimmers and mattes, a soft smokey eye can be yours. The MUA Ever After matte palette (£4) has a gorgeous shade selection, from light to dark, and all matte - great for pairing with a bold lip. Real Technique's Modern Natural palette ($25 - my review here!) contains some wonderful warm browns and golds, perfect for recreating an Old Hollywood glam look. These Ardell Demi Wispies (£5.49) are great lashes - enhancing your eyes without being too full on. L'Oreal's Super Liner (£6.49) is my favourite liquid liner for creating a flirty feline flick, and what look would be complete without a great volumising mascara like the ScandalEyes from Rimmel (£6.99)

For the Lips:

Pinky/Peachy Nudes

Perfect for soft, natural, kissable lips! Pinky or peachy nudes are great for a soft, romantic and feminine look. YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain (£26) in the colour Camel Croisiere, whilst having the most ridiculously long name, is a wonderful peach toned glossy lip stain, which is long lasting, ultra glossy and not sticky in the slightest. Rimmel's Moisture Renew Lipstick (£6.49) in Nude Delight is another peachy nude shade. Similar to Mac's Shy Girl, this creamy nude is perfect for pairing with a smokey eye, and it's moisturising finish makes sure your lips stay kissably soft. Saint Pink by Lipstick Queen ($22 - review here!) is a wonderfully warm natural pink, and the Vitamin E in this will keep your lips moisturised all day. Another YSL favourite is the Rouge Volupte lipstick (£25), in the colour 1 Nude Beige; it is a creamy pink toned nude, and these lipsticks are just wonderful. Look at the packaging for a start! Luxurious both in the bullet and on the lips.

Romantic Reds

Whether bright or deep. matte of glossy, a red lip is always associated with glamour. Rimmel Apocalips in Big Bang (£6.49) is a vibrant, super glossy red, perfect for capturing that Marilyn look. For a bright orange matte red, Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in 110 (£5.49) is my favourite. Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in Pleasure Me Red (£6.99) is a deep, dark red for maximum smoulder. One of my favourite reds ever is unfortunately now discontinued - Revlon's Strawberry Suede Matte lipstick is a gorgeously bright, cool toned red. Dupe anyone?

Vibrant Pinks:

Super bright pinks are one of my favourite lip colours to wear! Fun and vibrant, these are sure to catch anyone's eye. MUA Luxe Lip Lacquer in Criminal (£3 - review here) is an amazing matte super bright pink. Another YSL Rouge Volupte fave is Number 10, Provocative Pink (£25). A bright fuschia which is moisturising and with a satiny finish. A couple more matte options next, because there is no better time for kiss proof colour: Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Ole Flamingo (£8.99) is a great watermelon pink, and Mac's Candy Yum-Yum (£15.50) is an awesome blue-toned pink - it's pretty much neon and I love it.

3 looks you might like...

Soft and Shimmering - a pretty and delicate look, ideal for a daytime date. Think: soft pink or nude lips; a peachy blush; dewy skin; long flirty lashes; full, brushed out brows; and light shimmery eyes. Here I am wearing YSL Rouge Volupte no.1

Romantic Red - Something a bit more daring. Perfect for cocktails or a more formal date, or if you feel like amping up the glamour. Think: a bright red lip, either matte or glossy; feline flick eye liner, warm definition in the crease, and defined, arched eyebrows. I am wearing Revlon's Strawberry Suede lipstick.

Pop of Pink - who says pretty pinks have to be subtle? Make an impact with bright pink lips! Think: bright pink lips, cool pink blusher, volumised lashes, bold brows. Candy Yum Yum is the star of this show!

Did any of these catch your eye? Let me know your favourite in the comments below! And just remember - following in the lead of Han and Leia, the appropriate reply to "I love you" is always "I know"...
