Festive Make Up Ideas

Christmas is coming - and with it comes the onslaught of Christmas Parties! Work drinks, office parties, family get-togethers and nights out with friends...the festivities are endless! So I thought I would throw together a little something to try and help with the make up side of things.

It's Haul Time!

Visits to Superdrug and Boots always seem to end up with me picking up an item or two, or at least walking out with my hands covered in swatches of things! Last week I picked up a few things and thought I would do a quick post about them.

MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers

Ok I admit it - I have a bit of a thing for lip products...I just can't help it!  I think that changing your lip colour up is an easy way to keep your makeup looks from becoming too samey and boring. Plus it's a great way of looking polished when you don't have much time to spend on blending eyeshadows for that flawless smoky eye - you can just throw on a lip colour and you're good to go!

I have far too many lip products, but can never resist a shiny new one. Or in this case, a not so shiny one! I really like a matt lip - I think they are a fresh and modern take on bright colours, and make it easier (well, less scary!) to wear bright colours during the day.

Home is where the heart is...

A bit of a change from the normal makeup posts today - but I picked up a few things for the house and thought I would share, in case any of you are interested! Personally, I love a good nosy around home stores at the weekend, planning out my dream home and maybe occasionally picking up a couple of pieces here and there, and I enjoy seeing what other people have in their homes - it gives me some inspiration!

Let's Get Naked...

No no no, not THAT kind of naked! (Although if you are Jensen Ackles, then that kind of naked is definitely allowed. Or preferred. Actually, make that mandatory... Anyway, as you were...!) I'm talking about THIS kind of Naked...

Seasonal Skin Care - Your Skin Needs You!

First off - I must apologise for my horrendously long absence! Just when I was finding my feet with this whole blogging thing, I had one helluva busy summer (not in a good way!) and just couldn't find the time or inspiration. BUT - I have just turned 25 (oh my GOOOODDD where did that come from, surely I am still 17, no?!) and I am most definitely back with avengeance. So, sorry to keep you waiting - I hope you enjoy!

Recently, my summer long, fail proof skin care routine had been letting me down big time - I was suddenly getting super oily after only a couple of hours wearing my trusty Stay Matte BB cream, or Maybelline Eraser concealer, and I was having break outs all over the shop. Not a pretty sight! And for the life of me, I just couldn't understand why...

Beauty Hacks - Tips and Tricks to save you time and money!

I'm sure we all like to save ourselves some cash now and then, or think it's handy when one product can have more than one use, so I thought it would be a good idea to offer up any beauty tips and tricks that I have heard, used, invented, swear by etc. I like to call them "beauty hacks" (as in life hacks) as they are little shortcuts to an easier life - and I am all about that! So I will update you as and when I discover a little gem of a beauty hack.

So without further ado, my beauty hack of today is..... Coconut Oil!

Second Day Saviour - Batiste Strength and Shine Dry Shampoo

I don’t like to wash my hair every day, and I wouldn’t recommend doing it either (though I DO recommend showering yourself daily – obviously! I just tie my hair into a high bun to keep it out of the way). Over washing your hair can strip it of its protective natural oils, and may actually lead to damaged hair over time. Personally I try to only wash my hair every other day or even every three days, but this leaves me with another problem: I am definitely not keen on the idea of looking like a total greaseball. Of course you can tie your hair up on the second or third day, but most of the time I think that can serve to accentuate the oily situation, and I also don’t like to tie my hair up too often to avoid breakage. So – what’s the answer? Dry shampoo to the rescue!

It's a Cream Eye Shadow Showdown - Clinique vs Barbara Daly

I will start by saying that lunchbreaks are deadly and I should not be allowed to take one. Because things like this happen...I decided to go into Boots to get a meal deal and came out with a Clinique Chubby Stick for eyes. Whoops. THEN I went to Tesco and three Barbara Daly eyeshadows caught my eye – they look like a similar idea to the Chubby Sticks except, well as you can see, they are skinny sticks! SO, of course, I had to buy them and test them out! At only £3 per eyeshadow, compared to £17 for one Chubby Stick, how could I refuse?

NOTD - Nails Of The Day! Surprisingly pink and girly...who knew?!

Just a quick post of what I have been wearing on my nails today - and it is surprisingly pink and girly for me! I am not usually the girly type but occasionally I cross over from the Dark Side and this happens...

Water Fight! War of the Cleansing Waters...

Micellar Waters have been around and hyped about for a couple of years now, so I thought it was about time I jumped on the bandwagon. A quick, gentle cleanser, suitable for all skin types, which can remove makeup with a swipe of a cotton pad whilst never drying or irritating the skin – what’s not to love?!

You have taken your first step into a larger world...

Ok so, after all my time spent on youtube and blogs over the past few years, I have finally overcome my fears and decided to take the plunge and begin writing my own blog! I always thought that blogging was something “other people” did; people who were far more interesting than me and who seriously knew their stuff...
